Human Right Day: NHRC Urges Youth to Scorn Crimes and Protect Right
NHRC has appealed to the youth to protect human rights for the development of the nation. On Tuesday, Nigeria joins the world to mark the international day for Human Rights, the South-West Commander for NHRC -Mr. Lucas Kayode- said that youths should scorn crimes and be vocal in promoting the nation’s concerns.
According to the NHRC commander, the UN picked this year’s theme, to inform youths on their responsibilities and the need for others to help them. The theme for this year is: ” Youths Standing Up for Human Rights.”. Mr.Kayode said, “unfortunately, some youths in present-day Nigeria are not as proactive as youths of the old.”.
Also, a human rights lawyer and civil society leader, Mr.Malachy Ugwummadu, said the youths have enough population to make the needed changes.
Similarly, Mr. Duke Amaliechi, the National Coordinator of Youth for Human Rights International, said the youth should speak up against the unjust system and participate in governance
