Just In: Buhari Sacks NCC Boss, Jaja
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the dismissal of the Board Chairman of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Mr Tonye Jaja.
A letter to this effect, from Dr Dayo Akpat (SAN), the Solicitor-General, dated Oct.15, 2020 said Jaja’s removal was with immediate effect. He was directed to handover the property of the commission to the Director-General, John Asien.
“Wishing you success in your future endeavours. Please accept the assurances of warn regards and best regards,” the letter reads. No reason was given for the removal.
However, Reach.ng Understands that the dismmised NCC boss has hired the services of the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Kanu Agabi and Mr. Femi Falana, SAN to challenge his allege attempted illegal removal
in a letter of instruction, addressed to the prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jaja said the attempted removal is not in compliance with the Copyright Act, 1999 and other relevant Rules and Regulations.
Furthermore, he said he was never informed of committing any misconduct or crime to warrant his removal.
